Start with the kind of legal issue
Civil legal resources cover issues like housing, benefits, family safety, consumer problems, immigration, reentry, veterans, tax, seniors, and work. They are different from emergency criminal defense.
- LASCO is the main Central and Southeast Ohio civil legal-aid provider in this pilot.
- Ohio Legal Help gives plain-language statewide legal information and forms.
- Court self-help centers can provide information and forms, but may not represent you.
Treat eviction as time-sensitive
If someone has a court date, eviction summons, lockout threat, or notice deadline, a general directory page is not enough. The next step should be a live official intake path.
- Use Right to Counsel Columbus or LASCO where eligible.
- Check Rentful614 and 211 for current housing and rent-help navigation.
- Keep case numbers and dates private when submitting corrections or notes.
Protect survivor safety
Domestic violence, stalking, sexual assault, trafficking, and family-safety legal issues can involve monitored devices, protected addresses, and confidentiality rules.
- Use a safe device when needed.
- Do not publish survivor locations, shelter details, or case facts.
- Use official hotline, advocate, or legal-services pages for current safety planning.
